Jimmy Chase Summer Mission Trip 2015
I’d like to share with you some exciting things that are happening in my life here at Miami. I’m a sophomore Music and Interactive Media Studies (think web & interface design) double major. Consequently, I spend a lot of time playing piano in tiny, cramped practice rooms and learning about design, coding, and creative thinking.
Outside of class, though, I’ve had the opportunity to engage and participate in many events, organizations, and activities that have helped me figure out who I am and what I’m passionate about. CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ), in particular has helped me grow in my understanding of the world and of myself more than any other thing I’ve been involved in on campus.
CRU is a Christian movement that is very active at Miami and all around the world. By being involved in CRU the past year, I’ve grown in my faith immensely, met incredible friends and mentors, and have had the opportunity to share my musical gifts by leading worship.
This summer, I will be going to Ocean City, NJ with CRU on a 12-week Summer Mission Project along with 100 other college students around the country. The main purpose of this summer mission project is to establish and build their confidence in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
While I’m there, I’ll be given intensive character and leadership training and immersed in solid teachings from the Bible. Also, I’ll be equipped to communicate my faith and will have the chance to share the gospel with other students on the beach and at my job. My heart’s desire is to come away from this experience with a deeper understanding of God, a greater desire to love others, and strong convictions about myself and what I want to pursue in life.
Preparing for this experience has already been a huge step of faith and I’ve seen God at work in my life as I go about raising support to make this a reality. James 5:16 tells us that “the prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working,” which is so beautiful. Would you please be praying for me as I continue to gather funds and embark on this spiritual journey?
Also, I’d like to take this time to thank everyone at ALPC for helping me grow in my maturity in Christ over all these years. I’m blessed to have been surrounded by a community of people who love and encourage one another. ALPC has been my home, my refuge, the place where I began this epic journey of knowing the Lord more deeply. Special thanks to each of you for all that you’ve done for me.
