Our main adult choir, the Chancel Choir, sings at most Sunday services during the school year. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 8PM. This is a fun group that takes its music seriously, singing mainly four-part harmonies. Musical selections range from early polyphonic, to the height of the baroque era through the varied styles and ethnicities represented in the 18th through 21st centuries, chosen to coordinate with the topic of the sermon and scriptures as well as to bring worshipers closer to God.
The Chancel Choir can always use new singers. While it helps if you have had prior choral experience, if you can sing on pitch and are willing to learn and work diligently, you can certainly become a part of this dynamic group. They sing weekly during worship and in seasonal special services.
With four octaves of bells, the Bell Choir is a significant part of ALPC’s music program. They meet at 6:45 every Wednesday during the school year and perform in worship monthly.
If you can read music at all, the Bell Choir can use you!
Additional musical offerings provided by talented members of ALPC or visitors are a welcome part of our music program. These are especially needed during the summer months when the regular choirs do not rehearse. Please let our director, Muriel Homer, know if you want to contribute your musical specialty!
