The Prayer Shawl Ministry is an outreach mission for Avon Lake Presbyterian Church.  Ladies who enjoy knitting or crocheting gathered to enjoy fellowship and create original shawls made with love and prayers.  The premise is to pray for the person for whom the shawl is created.  Our mission has been a wonderful experience for those who knit or crochet as well as those who have received our gifts

Shawls are given to members of our church family as well as others in the community when we learn of their need.  Generally shawls are given to those who are experiencing a difficult time in their life.  However, we also have made crib blankets for new babies.  During the summer many of our ladies knit mittens, hats and scarves for the Christmas Mitten Tree.  This summer we knitted scarves for the Shoe Box Ministry.

We welcome anyone (yes, men too!) to our meetings which are held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 11:00 am in the Session Room at the church.  Even if you do not know how to knit but want to learn – we can teach you!

For more information, you will find Prayer Shawl Ministry brochures on the table in the foyer or call Carol Nussle at 933-2462.
